Privacy Policy
This policy explains what TechEvents.ai collects, why, and what you can do about it. We try to keep it short and readable. If anything is unclear, email us at privacy@techevents.ai.
Who we are
TechEvents.ai is a directory of Canadian tech events operated by Wealth Capital Connections (“we”, “us”). Our mailing address is:
70 Bongard AveNepean, ON K2E 7Z9
Canada
The person responsible for personal information at TechEvents.ai is Darryl Bandoro. You can reach them at privacy@techevents.ai.
What we collect
Event data. We aggregate information about Canadian tech events from publicly available sources (event platforms, organizer websites, public listings). This includes event names, dates, times, venues, organizer organization names, descriptions, and links. We do not collect personal contact information of individual organizers from public sources unless they claim or submit their listing to us.
Newsletter subscribers. If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address and the date you subscribed. That’s it.
Claimed listings. If you claim or submit an event as an organizer, we collect the contact information you provide (name, email, organization, optional phone or social links).
Analytics. The site includes Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-focused tool that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. It is not currently switched on, so it is collecting nothing; if we enable it, it would record aggregated, anonymous information about page visits (page URL, country, browser, device type, referrer). It cannot identify you and does not track you across sites.
How the site is used. We record anonymous information about how the directory is used, so we can make it easier to search: what was searched for and how many results came back, which filters were applied, and which listings were clicked through to. A click record notes which search or page it came from, so we can tell which searches lead somewhere useful. This is stored in our own database, hosted in Canada. It uses no cookies, and it records no IP address, no device or browser identifier, no account, and nothing that identifies you or follows you between visits or across sites. We keep it for 90 days.
Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard server logs that include IP addresses for security and abuse prevention. These logs are typically retained for 30 days.
We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or other third-party advertising trackers. We do not sell or rent personal information.
Why we collect it
- Event data: to operate the directory and help people find Canadian tech events.
- Newsletter subscribers: to send you the newsletter you signed up for.
- Claimed listings: to verify the listing belongs to you and contact you about it if needed.
- Analytics: to understand which pages and events people are interested in, in aggregate, so we can improve the directory.
Where it’s stored
Our database is hosted on Supabase in a Canadian region. Our website is hosted on Vercel, which serves content from a global edge network and runs server functions primarily in the United States; Vercel Web Analytics processes aggregate, cookieless usage data in the United States. Newsletter data is stored by our email provider, Buttondown, in the United States.
By using TechEvents.ai or subscribing to our newsletter, you understand that your information may be processed in countries other than Canada, including the United States, and is subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.
How long we keep it
- Event data: indefinitely, unless an organizer requests removal.
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe. After you unsubscribe, your email is kept on a suppression list so we don’t accidentally email you again.
- Claimed listing contacts: as long as the listing is active, plus two years after.
- Messages sent through our contact form: kept until the request is resolved, plus two years. We also record the sending IP address for abuse prevention and delete it after 90 days.
- Your account profile: for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and the profile goes with it.
- Events you save: for as long as your account exists. You can remove a saved event at any time, and deleting your account removes all of them.
- Your saved searches: for as long as your account exists. You can delete a saved search at any time, and deleting your account removes all of them.
- Anonymous usage records (searches, filters, click-throughs): 90 days, then deleted.
- Server logs: approximately 30 days.
Deleting your account removes your profile, your saved events and your saved searches together. We don’t keep an orphaned copy of any of them. Your email is also removed from the newsletter list at the same time.

Cookies

Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we’ll update the “last updated” date and notify newsletter subscribers by email. Minor edits (typos, clarifications) won’t trigger a notification.
